They say art imitates life, and there's no question that Taylor Sheridan has created a Dutton and Norris family-style dynasty with his collection of blockbuster TV series.

Given the star-power of this universe that Sheridan continues to expand, fans inevitably long for a crossover between the two giants around which everything else spins - Yellowstone and Landman. Billy Bob Thornton, who plays Landman patriarch, Tommy Norris, has hinted that he'd be open to two favourites from the Yellowstone spin-off, 1883, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, stepping into the Landman orbit.

When asked by Entertainment Tonight's Cassie DiLaura at the 2025 CMA Awards about the prospect of Thornton's good friends McGraw and Hill joining him in Landman, he enthusiastically responds, “Well, that would be awesome if they do. But you know, Taylor, he kind of picks and chooses whatever he wants for the show”.

Thornton jokes that, although he doesn't hold much sway in the writing and storyboarding room, he would do his best to get his pals involved, “We don't have a lot of clout in terms of that. But maybe we'll bring their names up and see what happens”.

Thornton's Landman co-star, Mark Collie, who plays Walt Joeberg, chimes in and hints that McGraw, Hill and Sheridan have kept in touch since filming 1883, “I know this much - every time Tim and Faith are playing in Fort Worth, they go to see him”.

McGraw and Hill were fantastic in 1883, with the heartbreaking tale of the Dutton Ranch's origins being championed by many as the most artistic offering from the Yellowstone roster. The beautifully written mini-series was pervaded by a dark sense of tragedy, while still providing glimpses of hope amidst all the turmoil and death.

Interestingly, Thornton had a brief cameo in 1883 as Jim Courtright, so it would feel like a full-circle moment for McGraw and Hill to return the favour and join him in Landman.

Of course, with 1883 being set in its titular year and Landman being present-day, McGraw and Hill could not reprise their roles as James and Margaret Dutton. But we think it would be fun to see them joining Thornton on Landman for a fleeting role, and a playful nod to the fact that the trio appeared on 1883 together in 2021.

Landman is currently in the midst of Season 2, with new episodes airing every Sunday. The story draws to a close with the dramatic finale, which premieres on January 18th, 2026.

McGraw, meanwhile, is gearing up for his eagerly anticipated Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum Theater at Caesars Palace, which kicks off this week. The ‘Humble and Kind’ hitmaker was recruited to headline the iconic venue after Dolly Parton was forced to withdraw earlier in the year, due to health issues.
